A TUTORIAL FOR ADDING ACCESSORIES TO YOUR PEOPLE PUTTY After exploring the folders of my (not very old) People Putty, I thought it might be possible to add some accessories (especially wigs) and embed them in the final htr, like the original accessories of PP. My method is empirical but works, with a limitation explained below. Everyone who tries to improve this and get rid of that limitation is welcome (sorry, no reward but my grateful thanks!) *** WARNING WARNING WARNING!!! HERE IS THE LIMITATION: After putting the new accessory on the head your are building (wow!), then you have a very bad surprise: the "undo" button and the commands of the "custom" panel (delete, X, Y, Z) don't work. And even if you start a new project, you can't get rid of that f...ing accessory! So be sure you really want to use it in your project, before loading it. I'm not responsible if your dear work in progress becomes suddenly very different from the lovely head you were expecting. But I just tried that with a wig and maybe it works better with more simple accessories. So, if you use this method, please test all the new devices you install, before starting a project. END OF WARNING *** NOW THE METHOD, in four steps: 1- THE ACCESSORY: Go to \Program Files\Haptek\PeoplePutty\environment\plugins\default\accessories\ACCESSORIES and put a copy of the accessory you want to add. I chose Hair_Flame.htr for my first try (a lovely wig made by NIGE, thanks to him, I used it a lot). 2- THE DESCRIPTION FILE: Go to \Program Files\Haptek\PeoplePutty\environment\plugins\default\accessories and create a specific file for the new htr, with an .accdesc extension (I guess it means "accessory description"). If you edit hair5_9EXP.accdesc, you can read: tar= hair5_9EXP.htr icon= accessories\hair5_9EXPicon.jpg name= hair5_9EXP desc= Supermodel hair author= David type= wigs So I added a file named Hair_Flame.accdesc in the folder, like this: tar= Hair_Flame.htr icon= accessories\Hair_Flameicon.jpg name= Hair_Flame desc= Red hair author= NIGE type= wigs (the 5 types are wigs, hats, glasses, earings, neckwear) 3- THE ICON #1: Go to \Program Files\Haptek\PeoplePutty\environment\interfaces\DRAFT\accessories\images\icons\ACCESSORIES and create an icon named Hair_Flameicon.jpg (and put it in the folder). No need to create a specific image for a first try (I used a copy of hair5_9EXPicon.jpg and renamed it) 4- THE ICON #2: Go to \Program Files\Haptek\PeoplePutty\environment\interfaces\OriginalBlue\accessories\images\icons\ACCESSORIES and do exactly the same thing. Now you have a new icon (after the other hairs) in your PP. And you can use it, with the limitation you read above.
